Winter Postcards

Hey there! The responses I got from the last post have been overwhelming. Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I’m afraid I would have to forego the culture post and I will be writing about it in the days to come. Not sure when exactly, I might need to process a bit more. Culture, as I’ve noted, is such a fraught topic to tackle. I know you’d understand. 御免なさい
A Narrative: One cold Saturday evening after work, I found myself in the emergency room of a hospital near the office. I was calm as a clam as you’d expect me to be; asked the physician if he could kindly perform a cardiogram on me. To my dismay, he recommended me to have a life detox instead. He suspected that I could have harbored unwarranted anxieties. #stressdenialsyndrome A protruding heartbeat, and he gathered I’m just stressed. Come on?! How am I supposed to argue against that catch-all diagnosis? I’m getting a second opinion next week. Just to rule out the cardiac scare and to save my sanity.
His health advice, of course, I can’t afford to ignore. Thankfully, my Ueno family gladly scheduled a ‘chill’ time. No sweat. Take that, life detox!
Let me show you how Winter tried to quiet down the anxiety in question.
Because truthfully, sometimes, you just have to take in the beauty that surrounds you.
Top of the morning conversations
Oddly satisfying to have cold drinks in the morning
Miss Yumi beat out all those who’ve prepared breakfast for me in my lifetime. Sorry mum. Such a sweet gesture to serve me a meal that is 100% allergen free.
With Mr. Yu aka your forest MacGyver. Can’t wait for another forest bath in Spring
My take away for this post is for you to listen to your body when it says ‘slow down’. It’s just a comma, not a full stop. Ciao!
