Remember when we were young, how we couldn’t wait to be grown up? How we couldn’t wait to earn good money, buy whatever and go wherever we want? How we couldn’t wait to build our dream house and have a luxurious car?For sure, daydreaming used to be a part of our daily routine and it used to give us pleasure imagining all the fortunes in the world.
Used to? Yes, “used to” especially to those who were not born on a silver spoon. It’s because these things get less easy as we age, don’t they? Unlike our childhood dreams, reality sometimes doesn’t give us pleasure. Being an adult entails so much more than just daydreaming.
You see, you don’t even have time to daydream, for you get too caught up with your job and when you’re paid, you’ll be ripped off by all your needs , wants and other big responsibilities which makes it more difficult to succeed.
Did I just spread bad vibes here? Well, this is the hard truth. No matter how we badly want to achieve our dreams at the drop of a hat, it just doesn’t work that way.
I am just sharing what my realizations are now that I’m adult. With all honesty, I can’t help getting anxious about my future.I am worried about making mistakes and wrong choices. I can’t help rushing myself to achieve the things I dream about. This attitude is somehow good at a certain aspect , but it is intoxicating in general. Unhealthy.
So, I started detoxifying myself. I had to loosen up and give myself a break.
Now, I’m doing my best not to worry about the endless tomorrows and just focus on the present. How we live our lives is a matter of choice. Just choose. Choose to enjoy! Choose to make life fun!
I know I won’t be able to make all the right choices but I don’t have to worry anymore because if I ever make bad choices, all I need is the courage to face the consequences. And I guess that’s how it’s supposed to be.
In life we do things. Some we wish we had never done. Some we wish we could replay a million times in our heads. But they all make us who we are and in the end they shape every detail about us. If we were to reverse any of them we wouldn’t be the person we are. So just live, make mistakes, have wonderful memories but never ever second guess who you are, where you have been, and most importantly where it is you’re going.
Embrace adulthood. Forget the future. Live in the moment.
‘Til next time,
