Homemade food, Yay or Nay?
Definitely, a YAY!
After living in Japan for 2 years, it came to my attention that I didn’t have enough money to sustain eating out all the time, except for when I made a run to convenience stores. There, you can see an array of instant and microwavable foods. It’s convenient and, it’s often appetizing. Though, it’s quite daunting knowing the hidden dangers of what they so called, “Lazy food.” Instead, I decided to use healthier ingredients and make a home version. What I recognized was that food utility is undeniable. So, you can pull them out in your fridge, and heat them up at your convenience. There is a difference between cooking something and reheating it. What’s more, you know what you are eating when it’s homemade!
Chili Con Carne
Reviewing my food spending 2 years ago showed me a trend. Just buying lunch rather than packing my own costs me 1,000 yen on average. On the top of that, there were the 300 yen that I spent for drinks and 500 yen I paid for desserts. Using up this ridiculous amount of money, I dedicated myself to cook three meals a day. For my money that I spent for a lunch meal in eating out, I got meat, vegetable, fruits to make 2 days worth of lunch. Not only that, doing a big grocery shopping pay off.

Thinking that I was too busy to cook and didn’t have time to sit down and eat. But I thought of how much time I spend in checking on the internet such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. So, I managed my time and spent a little over an hour cooking a delicious meal to take to work every day. Other than that, there are so many recipes that can be made in less than 30 minutes.
In a nutshell, eating homemade food comes with various benefits.
